Mission Viejo, CA (May 3, 2012) – Holt Integrated Circuits, a world leader in communications bus IC’s for the avionics and military industries, today announced the introduction of HI-6140, a 3.3V, 10Mbit/sec EBR-1553 BC/MT/RT solution. The device is designed for Enhanced Bit Rate 10Mbps MIL-STD-1553 or MIL-STD-1760 applications, such as Miniature Munitions Stores Interface (MMSI) or EBR-1553.
The HI-6140 uses Holt’s 20Mbit/sec RS-485 transceivers to connect directly to the EBR-1553 bus. The device produces Manchester II bi-phase encoded data for transmission on the RS-485 busses and automatically accounts for all response times necessary to comply with 10Mbps EBR-1553. The HI-6140 may be used in a multi-drop EBR-1553 bus or can function as an RT in an SAE AS5652 compliant star connection architecture.

In addition to the EBR-1553 features, the HI-6140 includes many features of Holt’s flagship BC/MT/RT 1Mbps MIL-STD-1553 terminal, HI-6130, including BC, MT or RT operation, 64k bytes on-chip RAM with optional error detection/correction, MT mode supporting IRIG-106 Chapter 10 packet format and 64-word interrupt log buffer.
The device is available in Industrial -40oC to +85oC, or Extended -55oC to +125oC temperature ranges in a 100-pin PQFP package. Optional burn-in is available on the extended temperature range. Samples are available immediately.
